Apply for ₦100K – ₦500K Grants to Support Nigerian Undergraduate & HND Students

The Ahmadu Bello Foundation Scholarship offers financial assistance to 200 eligible undergraduate and Higher National Diploma (HND) students of Northern Nigerian origin, studying in accredited public universities and polytechnics across Nigeria.

As part of its commitment to advancing education in Northern Nigeria, the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation (SABMF) awards these scholarships annually, ensuring deserving students receive the support they need to pursue their academic goals.

The scholarship award ranges from ₦100,000 to ₦500,000 per student for one academic session. Recipients may have their scholarships renewed, provided they maintain a minimum CGPA of Second Class Lower (for university students) or Upper Credit (for polytechnic students).

Scholarship Application Invitation

  • Applications are now open for qualified candidates of Northern Nigerian origin who gained admission into 100 level (via JAMB UTME), 200 level (via Direct Entry) for degree programs, or HND 1 in the 2020/2021 academic session and have commenced their studies.

Eligibility Requirements

  • To be considered for the Ahmadu Bello Foundation Memorial Scholarship, applicants must:
  • Be admitted into science and technology courses at public universities or polytechnics.
  • Have a valid admission offer for a full-time degree or HND program in an accredited institution.
  • Meet the minimum academic requirements for registration as a full-time student in their institution, department, or faculty.
  • Have at least five (5) O’Level credits, including English and Mathematics, in no more than two sittings.
  • Be an indigene of any of the 19 Northern Nigerian states or the Federal Capital Territory (proof of state of origin required).
  • Be 25 years old or younger at the time of admission into the university or polytechnic.

Benefits

  • The scholarship award is worth N100, 000.00 (One hundred thousand naira) per student for the duration of an academic session. Upon award, it will be renewed subject to a minimum CGPA equivalent of Second Class, Lower Division for university students and Upper Credit for polytechnics students.

Required Documents for Application

Applicants must be prepared to submit the following documents:

  • Screening Requirements
  • Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a screening exercise and must present the following:
  • Three (3) passport photographs (2 inches x 2 inches)
  • Certificate of State of Origin/Indigenization
  • Birth Certificate (issued by the National Population Commission – NPC)
  • JAMB Examination Result
  • Original Admission Letter (from JAMB and the institution)
  • Evidence of Fees Payment and Faculty/Departmental Registration
  • Valid Student Identification Card
  • WAEC or NECO Senior Secondary School Examination Results/Certificates
  • Latest Semester Result(s)
  • Personal Contact Details (including an active email address)
  • Letter of Reference (from a recognized community leader)
  • Completed Parent/Guardian Attestation Letter
  • Active Phone Numbers
  • Next of Kin’s Contact Details (including an email address)

How to Apply

  • Meeting the eligibility criteria does not guarantee a scholarship award, as selection depends on availability and ranking in the selection process.
  • Any falsification of information at any stage will lead to the withdrawal of the scholarship.
  • Interested and qualified candidates must apply online. Incomplete applications will not be processed.
  • Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
  • The names of successful candidates will be published in a national newspaper and on the Foundation’s website.
  • Applicants who have already been awarded scholarships from other schemes will not be considered.
